Greetings fans of Enfield RFC’s annual Sweetheart 7s indoor rugby tournament! As you may be aware, our tournament venue for the past five years has been the East Hants Sportsplex. Earlier this winter, as you may also be aware, the dome housing the indoor turf at the sportsplex collapsed due to an early winter storm. Though we are pleased to hear that the dome will soon begin repairs, it will not be functional in time for our February tournament.
This event has certainly been a curve ball thrown our way, but the Enfield RFC Board of Directors and Sweetheart 7s Organizing Committee is excited to announce that the tournament will still take place. An alternate venue has been secured at the Credit Union Rec Complex in Kentville, Nova Scotia. In spite of the short notice given to identify an alternate location, we are able to host the tournament during the same February long weekend. Sweetheart 7s will take place over the entire day of Sunday, February 16, 2020.
Normally, the Sweetheart 7s Tournament hosts up to 30 teams in Senior and Junior Men’s and Women’s divisions from all over the Maritimes. This year, due to restrictions in field size, the tournament will be limited to Senior Men’s and Women’s divisions, with limited space within these divisions. This is to say that space is limited and priority will give given on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
